A Conversation with John T. Edge

John T. Edge, author of “The Potlikker Papers,” host of the television show “TrueSouth” on SEC Network and ESPN and restaurant columnist for Garden & Gun, turns the lens inward in his most personal work yet, “House of Smoke: A Southerner Goes Searching for Home.” Edge’s memoir tells the stories of a small-town Georgia childhood shaped by violence, a South shadowed by racism, and a lifelong search for home. Edge enrolled in UGA in 1980 but left without a degree. Now, four decades, three degrees, and nine books later, he teaches narrative nonfiction writing in the Grady College’s low-residency MFA program. Please join us to welcome this son of Georgia back to where he began. Edge will be in conversation with Moni Basu, director of the MFA in Narrative Nonfiction. The event is free and open to the public. Copies of “House of Smoke will be available for purchase.
