Our unique location in Tasmania is the gateway to the Southern Ocean and Antarctica. Our research spans contributions to the people and place of Tasmania and covers oceans and cryosphere, ecology and biodiversity, and fisheries and aquaculture.

IMAS is a centre of excellence for marine and Antarctic research, where research cuts across traditional science and social science boundaries.
