Erasmus Mundus Master Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

The EMM-Nano+ master is a two-year, 120 ECTS, English language degree program.

Thanks to its combination of partners, expertise and courses, it offers you a unique integrated master program, covering all aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology, while at the same time allowing you to design an individual study program with specialization in essentially any field of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

It facilitates studying at two separate participating universities where you spend one year per country. It is strongly multidisciplinary: you receive a basic training in all the disciplines offered, one of which becomes your area of specialisation.

At the end of the program you will receive a joint degree from the two universities where you studied.

Professional perspectives

In the coming decades, nanoscience and nanotechnology will undoubtedly become the driving force for a new set of products, systems, and applications. They are even expected to become the basis for a new industrial revolution.

Within a few years, nanoscience applications are expected to have an impact on virtually every technological sector and ultimately many aspects of our daily life. In the coming five to ten years, many new products and companies will emerge based on nanotechnology and nanosciences. These new products will stem from the knowledge developed at the interface of the various scientific disciplines offered in this Master’s programme….

Student stories

Barbora Lavičková, Czech Republic

I followed the option Nanobiotechnology at KU Leuven and UGA Grenoble, and graduated in 2016. I discovered this program by accident and never believed that I would actually be accepted. This program and the amazing professors running it opened up great opportunities for me, which not only changed my life, but also me. Among these opportunities were the experience of living in two different countries and meeting wonderful people from all around the world. In particular, I was given the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and understanding from many different fields ranging from physics to electronics and chemistry to biology, and that is what according to me makes this program so extraordinary. This interdisciplinary background then opens up the possibility to look at scientific problems from an entirely different perspective and offers exciting career paths you would never have expected before starting this program. So if you are wondering if you should apply and you are not afraid of challenges, do not hesitate, as this program is definitely worth it.
